Can autism not be reconized until teenage years?

I have a 13 year old daughter, she showed no signs of autism at a young age but for the past couple of years she has started to develop a fear of people, she wont make eye contact with anyone, she wont order her own food in restaurents, she doesnt like talking in big crowds or being in big crowds, she doesnt have many friends and im really worried about her, could this be autism and what should i do about all this? Please helpi amver worried, thankyou xCan autism not be reconized until teenage years?
Social Anxiety Disorder sounds like what i suffer with and not autism, Thomas has autism and it was very clear at aged 2 and a half he was autistic, no speech, hated being cuddled, no eye contact, wouldn't interact with other people. Can autism not be reconized until teenage years?
What you are describing doesn't sound like autism, more likely a depression. No eye contact can also be a symptom of low self-esteem. I hope you are seeking help for her and I wish you the best.

We knew my grandson was autistic by the time he was 2.
