What can the licensed retail industry do to help cut back on teenage binge drinking?

What? Teenage binge drinking is something that PARENTS have control over. Not the retail industry. Everyone wants to blame someone else for kids problems. Parents just don't want to take responsibility and then wonder why their kids are in jail, rehab (if lucky) or dead. Gee, how'd THAT happen? What can the licensed retail industry do to help cut back on teenage binge drinking?
Stop selling alcoholic drinks to youngsters. It still happens despite threats of prosecution. What can the licensed retail industry do to help cut back on teenage binge drinking?
Absolutely nothing is what they will to do!

there's too much money involved, or too much for them to loose if they took action,

How many licensed premises do you know that have long serving licensees?

    Not many I'll wager!

the breweries just want to grab, grab, grab.
Stop making alcopops for a start - they don't even taste alcoholic!
If by tennage you mean 13 year olds yes the problem lies with the parent and they should cut it down as they should know if their child is a regular drinker.

At around the 18 mark its just students having fun and they grow out of it
    ask for proof of age
    Stop DISGUISING IT AS POP!
The laws in place pretty much have it covered. If they want to drink, they will always find a way around the law. The best you can do is check for valid I.D. and refuse to sell to anyone you reasonably believe is buying for a minor. If you sell to someone legal age and then see them give it to a known minor, call the police. They probably won't do anything, but you will have protected yourself from prosecution.
If only they upheld the law - that would at least help!

Is it normal for some teenage girls to go three to four months w/out their period?

Sorry 4 the guys that read this.... and no, i am not pregnantIs it normal for some teenage girls to go three to four months w/out their period?
Well,it could but be normal, but doesn't have to be.I don't want to scare you,but I also went without a period for so long and my doctor found out that I had a cyst,so...as i said maybe it is normal, but then again maybe it isn't..Is it normal for some teenage girls to go three to four months w/out their period?
    TOTALLY!! dont worry. ur nomral
It depends on how many times you have had your period. Sometimes when you first start, you are very irregular, sometiimes, it is 1-4 months before you have you next. But it is totally normal! Don't freak out. Your cool.
    totally.

    that happened to me.

i was asking myself the same question you are.

i ended up having to go on birth control for 3 months to regulate it.
    yeah your probably still irregular
It can be normal but then again, it could be caused by different things. If you go to a doctor, the first thing he's going to do is want to you be on birth control pills to regulate your periods.
    oh yes. :]

I'm right over my teenage years now and I'm wondering how do I normalize my voice?

I know its part of growing up, but about 2 years ago it really went low and I know its not suppose to stay that way, what can I do to make it at least improve to normal. It also hurts my throat when I talk a little bit loud.I'm right over my teenage years now and I'm wondering how do I normalize my voice?
When I was your age my voice started to crack a lot. It took it a couple years to get back to a normal state again. Puberty sucks but it is a part of life. I also used to get made fun of for my voice cracking so much. I just told the other boys I went to school with, ';You try going through puberty and tell me how you like it.'; Needless to say they didn't like that to much.

How do I get my teenage son to wash his hair ??? It's really long but messy?

If he's not using hair care products like gels then he might actually have some of the healthiest hair out there. Your body produces oils that are really good for your hair, in fact conditioners are made to try to mimic this. So you may just need to tell him that it's fine if he doesn't wash it, so long as he doesn't use gels, but that he should still rinse it.

The last time I took my sons to hairdressers I told them it was for a trim, the oldest was the worst, had a word with hairdresser and told her to cut it really short (they both had them cut at the same time) they were really mad with me (understandably) but I got my point accross - keep it clean and neat or else - its worked wonders.
If he can't care for it threaten him that you are going to get it cut off...if he does not listen then get it cut.

Tell him if he doesn't wash his hair he's going to have to get it cut. Than if he doesn't wash his hair cut it. If he wont let you do that, wait until he falls asleep and than cut it. You don't have to do it all, but just good enough that he will have to go to the barber to fix it. He wont have a choice unless he wants a hacked up head!

  • Healthcare reformers: are you either teenage or in college?

Okay, hands up, how many of you who cry about America's healthcare system are either in high school or college? 90% of the ';capitalism is evil'; crowd that I've ever talked to are in this group.Healthcare reformers: are you either teenage or in college?
It's a product of the liberal public school attempting to brainwash our kids into thinking socialism is the answer. If you poll private school kids, the stat shows just the opposite. More the reason to abolish public schools in favor of private.Healthcare reformers: are you either teenage or in college?
Cry about what the need for the program or against it?

BTW Oliver, I am not a blind Obama follower, nor am I uneducated as you state, I also have 2 degrees, mind you one that would make you think I am a left wing thinking, but thankfully I attended a school that allowed me to think for my self. I do not agree with the government's attempt to take over the health care system, first because the nation cannot afford this, and second there are many other options that would work better for everyone. I believe in capitalism and that it can work until the immoral idiots take over the helm of any company.
I am very much in favor of health reform and would actually prefer a single payer model. I am 42. I do not think capitalism is evil. I do, however, question the intelligence of having a for-profit health insurance model.
The generations corrupted by Marxist/Leninist doctrine are now the generations teaching in our schools and colleges, running for office in our Governments protesting, and supporting political correctness

It's a mix of both teens and adults.
    Nope.

Retired in Alabama, and not quite old enough to go on US Socialized Health care.

    It is called Medicare.

Why don't phony conservatives demonize Medicare?

    It is completely Government run.

    Seems cowardly and hypocritical.
Retired Navy. Current federal contractor. Glad it's being whittled down. Things need to change but without so much govt. involvement.
That is nonsense. Most of the juvenile questions and comments come from the conservatives. I'm not sure whether they are actually old enough to vote but the maturity level is quite low.
The last time I attended a college as a student was probably more years ago than you've been alive.
I agree, I am not seeing many 20 or 30 somethings protesting at the town hall meetings.
I think if your to lazy to work and u get sick you should just stay home and die
Get a grip pedocon....are you one of those medicaid geezers that is AGAINST govt run healthcare programs?
you give them too high an eduction standard. try middle or high school on here.
Yes, in the basement until their 35.

Why does the characters in teenage mutant ninja turtles are named after the famous painters?

Leonardo is named after leonardo da vinci, Raphael is named after Raphael Sanzio, Michelangelo is named after Michelangelo Buonarroti and Donatello is named after Donato di Niccol脙虏 di Betto Bardi. Why does the characters in teenage mutant ninja turtles are named after the famous painters?
Because Splinter was a fan of these painters and named the turtles after them. Splinter considers the turtles to be his ';sons';, it was just what he wanted to name his childrenWhy does the characters in teenage mutant ninja turtles are named after the famous painters?
When the Turtles and Splinter were exposed to the radioactive waste that gave them their powers, they slowly began to mutate into humanoid form. However, when it came time to name the Turtles, the only reference that Splinter had was an art book. He assumed those were normal human names and gave them to the turtles.
actually they were named not only because the originals were great painters,

but because they were the great leaders in the Renaissance.

at least that's what i know
the whole show literally started as a joke (probably between some stoners as i have noticed bongs in the video games) the names were considered funny and there ya go no real interesting story
i'd say it's because they were great leaders and so splinter would want his boys to grow up trying to live to a greater expectation

Are you worried about the teenage years?

My daughter is 7 and we are really close. I used to be worried about the teenage years until I worked with special needs teenagers that were functioning in society with really bad behaviors. Now I am not so worried. I feel calm and full of faith that it will be ok and we will still be a happy family.. anyone else just know that it will be ok, or do you worry? Are you worried about the teenage years?
HI, NO I DON'T WORRY BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE BEST YEARS OF THERE LIFE.Are you worried about the teenage years?
No not at all. Our oldest is 17 and I worried when he was younger but one of the biggest problems I noticed as he grew was that the kids who were full of problems werethe ones who didn't have a lot of communication with their parents. Did have mutual respect, etc. Parents need to know who their children are with, where they are and what they are doing. They also need their kids to be able to speak to them about things.

We have 3 others ages 13, 11, and 10. I am not too worried about the teen years. Because we are close and we discuss things. There is a balance between being there and close with them, but also not allowing the 'best' friend syndrome where there is no respect at all.
    scared to death
You wouldn't be a parent if you didn't worry....all you can do is your best to raise them the best way you know how and always let her know her know that she can come to you for anything.
I do wonder sometimes how it is going to be with my daughter in her teenage years. She is only 15 months and already trying to backtalk. What i do know is that no matter how bad she gets or might become im going to stick through it with her. Sometimes i worry but other times i know it will be ok. We all struggle with problems during our teenage years. I hope i can be there when she has her own problems to deal with.
My daughter is 11, and from what I have been seeing I am worried to death. I wasn't worried either when she was 7. People change as they get older.
I am concerned that I might become a grandmother at an early age, as my oldest stepson was born when his parents were 16, and my second stepson was born when HIS mother was 16.. hopefully both boys will be raised well enough that they don't continue the pattern, but there's still a bit of concern in my mind.

Otherwise, I'm not really worried, other than having the knowledge that I'll have 3 teenage boys at once!

Just remember that kids will return to the way that they were raised. If they were raised well, they will come back to it. There's no telling how much time it might take, but it will happen.
I have a 15 year old so I am currently experiencing. I thought we would just cruise through it also. Boy was I wrong! Now I worry about my 6 mos old and doing it all over, I do not look forward to teenage hood with her. Just be sure to never give up your role as a parent to become buddies with her.
communication and give them space.. let go as they earn it. Let them make mistakes
I am not that worried about it because I was horrible during my teenage years but my parents and I got through it and I'm very close with them as an adult. My niece was the same way. She was a hell-raising teenager but now has her own kids and gets along a lot better with her parents.

There are also so very enjoyable times ahead in the teenage years -- the freedom of having a child who can drive herself around, the prom dresses, the creativity that sometimes emerges during adolescence. It's not all bad!

Why do Adults assume that Teenage girls are always irresponsible?

I was recently reading questions of a mothers asking if they should let daughter hangout with male friends, and the answers they got scared me. All of them were telling the parent that they would be a grandma at an early age or how son you鈥檒l get a son-in-law. I understand how there is concern for there child鈥檚 safety but they just all assume that they will have sex at a young age. By doing so it's lableing every young women as irresponsible. Why do Adults assume that Teenage girls are always irresponsible?
We are probably just afraid because we remember how things were and how we were when we were growing up and we think things have gotten worse, so we tend to be overprotective.

I know I watch my daughter more closely then my parents did me, but she still has a little freedom, I don't put a leash on her.Why do Adults assume that Teenage girls are always irresponsible?
It isn't the girls they think are untrustworthy, it's the boys!
Have you read the majority of questions that most of the teen girls on here are asking? almost daily there are girls asking if they are pregnant or what does sex feel like, so and and so forth. i think that there is a majority of teen girls who are not responsible and have proven it over and over again. there are the girls that are good and don't have unprotected sex and stuff but then again i am not reading questions from them about being knocked up.
well sadly most girls do start young

in the past week look at how many questions were about a girl 15 and below being pregnant

the vast majority of them are....
Because some of us are. Thank you and good day.
Have you seen these adolescent questions lately?

    ';Help I'm 10 and pregnant! WHAT DO I DO%26gt;!%26gt;!%26gt;!?!!?!?!?';
    Because you are
I just asked a question like that. usually they just ask the stupidest question about sex. They are having it yet dont know how they would get pregnant. usually they are.
Well you guys are teenagers. We know you're irresponsible, because we all use to be irresponsible teenagers too. It's a given fact, you're adolescents because you're still growing and learning in this world, and right along with that comes irresponsibility!
i know what u mean, not all girls a little hoes, but most of them are nowadays, so thats why all the adults think that all teenage girls are like that
i know. i totally agree with you. but, its partly the medias fault. tv shows, movies, etc. show teenagers as out-of-control, moody, irresponsible kids who think theyre adults. whether your parents think this or not, the best thing for you to do is be completely the opposite: calm, in control, pleasant, responsible. try to prove to them that you do NOT fit into that stereotype of teenagers and that you are better than that.
Speaking from my recent experience as a teenage girl... most teen girls ARE irresponsible.

Although I was the only one not having sex, I didn't refrain from smoking, drinking and smoking pot.

Teenagers alone are a dangerous thing!!
perhaps the gave this answers because when the were young like that they did that. you know had sex married young and such. but its also what the see in the media that might have influences these answers. media doesn't really show us young teenage girls in a good spot light. i think if the mother knows she raised her daughter right in her point of view she has nothing to worry about.
i am 14............yeah i was wondering the same thing alot of people were answering my questions and saying that at my age girls are irresponsible and immature......they don't know me personally so i don't think they should say that......i don't know why they do but it irritates me
Everyone is just scared b/c of how the world has been handling themselves lately.
Not every young woman is irresponsible, im 18 n i have no kids n i have been sexually active since i was 15. But u have to admit the teenage pregnancy rate has gone up. The worse part is, it is not only minorities or low income families that it is happening to. There are high school valedictorians who r walking the line pregnant. I mean seriously wouldn't u b worried if u had daughters. There are girls who are super smart and are perfect in every way n they still get pregnant........because they r human.
    Because most teenagers are irresponsible.

A legitimate agency doesn't cost anything upfront. Anyone trying to make you pay for registration, website listings, classes, showcases, etc is a scam. An agency should only make money after they book you on a job and take their commission

AFTER you have signed a contract with an agency, you will normally have to pay for comp cards and possibly a few test shoots for your portfolio. This can cost anywhere from $200-1000 depending on which photographer(s) you use, how many shoots you have, how many comp cards you print. You should be free to pick the photographer of your choice - if you are being forced to use one specific photographer/studio or an in-house photographer, you are being scammed. While some agencies do have deals with certain photographers where you get a discount, you should never be forced to use that photographer. Always call around to compare pricing and make sure the agency will let you use the photographer of your choice

Advantages - money, fame and travel if you are successful, getting to wear nice clothes, having your hair and makeup done by the top artists in the world

Disadvantages - missing school, not being able to spend as much time with friends and family, going to an average of 40 go-sees for every 1 job you get booked on, having people constantly critiquing your look and your weight, not being able to eat whatever you want anymore
I'm not sure about the first two questions but

    Plus side:

    * if you're good you can get a lot of money

    * fun sort of job

*who wouldn't want to be a model, lol

    Negatives:

    * Bad body image

    * People would always want you to loose weight

    * Lots of scams out there

    * Very possible you wouldn't make it that far as it's a popular career for people to try and not many make it

You might want to enter any model searches and such that you see in magazines.

    Hope I helped

  • Whats up with all these teenage girls getting pregnant?

In my school, a lot of girls are getting pregnant

    4 sophomores

    1 freshman

    1 senior

    3 juniors

i have no idea why, our school has a really good reputation and it never got this bad

so i have no idea if its only my school or is it other schools too?Whats up with all these teenage girls getting pregnant?
It's very sad isn't , I kept my virginity till I got married I was 23 that time . Call me crazy or whatever but I do believe that it shouldn't be any sex before marriage that way we can prevent unwanted pregnancy or disease .Whats up with all these teenage girls getting pregnant?
Girls are getting pregnant because they're not using protection, or they're not being safe. It doesn't matter how good your school's reputation, if a girl wants to have sex, then she will. Let them have their own choice to do what they want with their body, what they do doesn't concern you.
No hun, it's not just your school.

Kids these days don't seem to think before they act, and that includes sex. It seems to be the worse thing ever to still be a virgin while you are in high school- the pressure to have sex early is on. That put together with the complete ignorance that many teens seem to have toward proper protection equals babies and lots of them.

I am glad that some teens have the sense to stay safe!
Oh no its not just your school teen preg. rates have been going up for a while. I just dont think that teen girls realize that sex isn't a fad and it isn't something to brag about. Some teens want to have baby's because they think that they will have more freedoms as an adult. As we see teen pregnancy go up take a look at std numbers . I guarantee they have gone up too. Good luck and don't be one of those ..girls.
It's every where.... it's insane.... I will beat my daughter into oblivion... mark my words..... she better hope on her life she doesn't get pregnant before she support a child on her own, cos I refuse to help... I'll pay for the abortion if she's still in my house..... well mainly high school.... My daughter will not have a child before she's ready... i'll make dam sure of it.
girls are getting pregnant. its not just at ur high school. personally, i think todays magazines, tv shows, and music are promoting this.
so it's pretty widespread i think. Have you seen all the questions here on Y!A from girls who are in their young teens saying they've had sex?

It kinda makes me sad really. It's like sex means nothing to people anymore.
    There are others.

20 girls are pregnant at m school.

Girls have no respect for themselves anymore.
Thats pretty low... My school lots are pregnant. Teens need to learn how to use protection...

Is it ok to date teenage girls who have had babies?

is it really a big issue? Is it ok to date teenage girls who have had babies?
That depends on whether or not you want to. It also depends upon whether or not she is a minor and you are an adult. If the dude that helped make the baby is like many other young fathers, a coward who doesn't want to be involved in his own child's life, and split then you wouldn't have to worry about him getting in the way and causing problems. She might not be looking for a dad for her child or she might want to find a serious guy who doesn't have a problem with helping her raise a child. It's ok to do it as long as both of you are minors or both adults. Whether or not you do is up to you.Is it ok to date teenage girls who have had babies?
Yes, most times it could be.

Girls who have babies can have their baby's father in their lives still-either as a friend or a past lover just to take care of the baby or be there for the baby in any way.

Girls who have babies have what some called, ';extra baggage'; meaning that they have child care concerns like formula, daycare, transportation, thoughts about if the baby are ok and who they want in their lives to take care of them. Basically there can be alot of stress on the mother who is trying to take care of their babies that would get into your relationship with her.

And this can affect you because you would most likely be taking care of a child that isn't yours. You may feel that you are entitle to the child, but it would be great for the teenage mother to have someone to take care of her and her baby. But don't date any teenage girl out of pity only if it is of true affection that you feel for her and relationships can be prosperous even if one has had children before, it depends, but it can work.

Um well if u date a girl with a baby i would watch out if she expects u to pay for dipers, food, clothes, etc.

Like if its once and a while yeah but if she is on your case about then she is with u for money and crap.

Alot of baby mamas find guys to pay for their baby but some baby mamsa aint like that.
Just don't add to the collection.

If you can date them and not expect sex, it would probably help them to regain some sort of normal teen life, apart from being very young mothers.

    ';Help I'm 10 and pregnant! WHAT DO I DO%26gt;!%26gt;!%26gt;!?!!?!?!?';

If you were a teenage girl, a rapist raped you. You try to kick them away, but he blocked it. How would u feel

I wouldnt have quit fighting, and if and when had the chance would have severed his testicles or penis one. They die within minutes of having either occur.

Dear nobody is such a good book. Also The diary of Kelly Anne.

Should I buy my teenage son a car and make his payments?

or would they pamper him to the point where he will just expect me to hand him things. What is the right approach when it comes to teaching to drive, driving and your kids?.

I mean I want to help, but not to the point that he is helpless all the time and at the same time I don't want him to get a late start on life because he was bogged down by responsibilities getting in the way of his education.Should I buy my teenage son a car and make his payments?
Don't pay all the payments, that's too much.

What my friend's parents did was make him save up the money, and they would match what he saved. So they split the payment 50/50, he raised a little over 3 grand, and his parents matched the amount, dollar for dollar. So he got a car that was 6 grand.

My dad wouldn't help me get to work, he said I needed a car for that, but then, I needed a job to get a car, and he just told me ';Well, that sucks, now doesn't it'; yea... thats not a good route.

As far as learning to drive, well, I can only say from my experience, and my dad was never there, he just sent me off to driving school, and never gave it a second thought.

But the driver's ed instructors said that the parents should ask what their child learned each week and take them out and reinforce what was learned at the driver's ed school.

some people are saying to buy the car for him and make him pay the insurance. That would end up being more money for him to pay than if he bought the car himself. He being a teenage boy and all.

I'm 20 years old, female, with the honor student discount, and the drivers ed graduation discount, never been in an accident, and my insurances is 2 grand every 6 months. For a male teenager, it would cost more, and also depending on how nice the car is. So keep insurance costs in mind.

For how much I pay in insurance, I could buy a new car every year!Should I buy my teenage son a car and make his payments?
There's nothing wrong with getting him a car. However, there is also nothing wrong with having him get a job and help pay for it and the insurance. Making him pay all of it right now might be a bit much, but I would think expecting him to help out on the bills a bit would be a good middle ground. I know plenty of teens and young adults who help pay for their cars and have had no issues with it conflicting with their education.
Get a dirt cheap car...like one on craigslist.org for under $2000. Once he drives it for a year or two and keeps it well maintained (IE learns from you to handle things like oil changes and inspection), offer to buy him a better one (IE $4-7K used) provided he keeps a job for 2 months during summertime. If he crashes the first car wait 6 months to get him another dirt-cheap car.

The trick, IMVHO, is to get him a car just good enough to teach him to drive but not so fancy he thinks he's getting a ';free ride';.
I think that if he wants a car, he needs to get it. And you don't need to buy a new one with payments. You can buy a nice used car for cheap on www.craigslist.com
I think you could buy the car for him, but make HIM pay the insurance. Help him out but not to the point that he will totally rely on you.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
Yes. then you wont have to drive him round all the time.

    She Walks in Beauty

She walks in beauty, like the night

    Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impair'd the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

    Or softly lightens o'er her face;

    Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

    ';OH YEAH LOOK AT ALL OF MY CHINS!';

Do you charge your teenage kids board? And how much do you charge them? What is included in the board?

I think you should have changed your question to ';adult child'; instead of teenage kid to get the answer you are looking for. Anyways - what we did was made our kids pay for their own car insurance %26amp; gas once they started driving (high school or not...they all had part time jobs), but that was it as long as they were in school/college. If no college after they graduated high school, then they had to get a full-time job and paid for their own expenses which included their car insurance, gas, toiletries (shampoo, deodorant, ';monthly needs';, etc.), and any particular grocery items they wanted that I didn't normally buy (soda preferences, snacks, etc.) and $200/month ';rent'; which helps defray the utility costs and what-not that I'd be saving if they weren't still at home. Gotta grow up at some point, right - letting them stay at home for free isn't doing them any favors %26amp; contributes to the gimme-gimme mentality we see so often today. Time for parents to start acting like parents and push their children to be responsible for themselves once they are adults instead of treating them like children into their 20's and 30's.Do you charge your teenage kids board? And how much do you charge them? What is included in the board?
No. He's my child and only 16. It is my responsibility to care for him, that includes financially.

If he were over 18, no longer in high school, and chose not to go to college, I'd probably charge him a small fee for room and board, but I'd put that money into a savings account for him to use when he gets his own place.Do you charge your teenage kids board? And how much do you charge them? What is included in the board?
my parents did not charge us board as long as we were in school and doing well.

I lived with them for 2 months after I graduated and they charged me $50 a week, and I paid $10 for utilities.

I could eat dinner with them, but they gave me the downstairs fridge to stock my own snacks, soda, and lunch/ breakfast items.

When my brother started flunking, my parents charged him until he pulled his grade back up.
Well, my kids aren't old enough...yet. When they are..it all depends on what they are doing. If they are working towards something (college or internship) then I wouldn't charge them...but they would be responsible for anything extra. If they were just working then it would probably be 20% of their salary. I think that is a realistic amount for them to get used to not spending on unnecessary things. I got married at that age %26amp; was out on my own...but my sister lived at home during college. She didn't have to pay for rent, food, insurance or utilities...but everything else was on her. I think it teaches them a lot about the real world and responsibility...and if more parents did this, then we would have less young adults living out of their means.
my daughter is only 14 but as soon as she starts to earn a wage i will be charging her a board i will be doing everything i do as a parent but i will require a small amount basically just to teach her responsibility you could always open up a savings account and put the money your child gives to you for their future
i am assuming you are meaning under 18. well for one thing under 18 is still a minor and it is the parents job to take care of them. so i would not charge my minor child room and board. when they are 18 then yes because they are known to be adults then and should take on adult responsibilities
no because it would be my fault that they were living with me

i had the baby so when it grows up its still my responsibility to take care of it

unless i was really in financial trouble where it was cough up more money or go to jail, then i might ask if they could tap money just till we all got back on our feet.
They can pay for their own things and maybe help out with the food, but I wouldn't charge them just to live there. Money is a big problem these days they need that money to get their own house car etc, the parent mooching off them is only going to hinder them.
My daughter's 19 and I have never charged for, nor will i ever, for anything. She's my daughter and what ever I have, as long as I have it, i will share with her. She's in college and lives at home in the summer.

I've told her she can live at home as long as she wants.
It depends what they are earning really. If they are working full time then maybe 拢35 a week? They should get their food and use shower etc. If they are at college I wouldn't have money off them but I don't really need to. If they are claiming benefits maybe 拢15 or 拢20 a week.
AGE? under 18 and going to school? nothing. over 18, out of school no college, job. roof, meals, no laundry or cleaning by me, 200 a month. hey, you can't rent a place for that amount. at least not here in cali
nothing until they are 18. my parents said as long as i was in school i could live there for free. if i quit school i would have to get a job and pay. i didn't have to worry about that though i moved out at 18 anyway
My parents have made me pay rent since i first started earning money. I pay 拢25 per week, it goes towards the food i eat, the electricity and water i use.
I don't see how parents can charge their own child rent! That's just crazy to me! No matter how old..they are still your child. Only way I'd charge rent is if he/she was married and had their family living with me.
I dont have a teenage kid but as long as there under 18. Theres no reason to charge them rent to live with you.

Even if they were 18 or older...i still wouldnt
our rule of the house is: if you do not attend school of any kind you will pay rent when living in our house.
    I wouldn't.

Besides, what happens if they can't afford what you're asking for?

Are you gonna kick them out?
Um if they are over 18(they should have a job) then I would say 200 a month. Make them get a job so they can pay....
If their still in Highschool then there's no reason to be making them pay rent.

Acid attack on two teenage muslim girls wearing short skirts?

The girls were walking down when a group of muslim men came and said their skirts were too short. They threw acid on the back of their legs .

What are your views on thisAcid attack on two teenage muslim girls wearing short skirts?
    where and when?

can you give us the source for this story!!!

well, you can find extremists in all religions.

in the west, some Christians bomb apportion clinics, waging wars, Zionists kill women and children because as they claim, their creator ordered them to do so.

one has to use his brain.Acid attack on two teenage muslim girls wearing short skirts?
    The skirts were not ';short.';

They were of a medium length--they covered the thighs to the knees.

By the way, this has also happened in Israel.

Religious fundamentalists of any religion are a danger to society.
    1. No man is the judge of others, hence no matter what the girls were wearing (or not wearing), is no ones business but their own.

    2. Those men are to be punished for destroying the lives of some innocent people. No mercy. I condemn their actions.

    On the note:

It is not like men wear walking down the street, with a bottle of acids and the girls were 'coincidentally' were passing by. Their heinous crime was planned from before, hence severe punishment is due to them seriously.

Islam teaches tolerance, as those men were not practising it themselves, i don't think they are moslems.
Firstly, every one is responsible for their own actions and there is no compulsion in religion.

These girls may be better in belief then the ones who cover. The men could have caused scarring to the girls legs which will stay with them permanently. If the men had an issue then they should have advised them with kindness since such malicious acts can cause hostility.
i think this is very wrong i am an aythest therefore i am not of a religion my point of view on this is please dont take it offensivley is that the muslim women are treated very unfairly. They get made to do everything and at the end of the day they get beaten up or told to do more work put it this way in some of the countries with the landmines men make their wifes walk infront of them so that if theres a bomb they will die. dont get me wrong its not all like tht but throwing acid at girls with short skirts thats proposturus i would go to the police why would you do such a thing i told you its because they want to be in control that is why. plus with the arranged marrages what is all that about. bust seriously that is sick if u know the girls tell them to phone womens aid or somthin like that ad report these men. but i dont mean to offend you in any way i am sorry if i did

    i hope this helps
Do you think if they were christian the headline would be ';Two christian girls attacked by group of christian men';, or the Baby P case ';White baby killed by christian step dad'; and we'd all be shaking our heads saying ';tut, i dont trust those christians'; as if thats the important thing. Of course we wouldnt. So why do we have to highlight here the fact they were muslim? Horrific things like this happen in all places, it has little to do with their faith, more to do with the fact these particular men are a group of psychopathic monsters
So 2 muslim girls were randomly walking with short skirts. And these muslim men just approached the girls and magically there was a bucket of acid in their hands. How does that work? Who carries acid around with them?

Btw if thats even true then what they did is cowardly and pathetic. Let those girls parents handle it why should 2 random men take matters into their own hands.
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! No man should have the right to throw acid on some girl for wearing a mini skirt let alone tell them what to wear in the first place. I hope these men face a long and hard punishment for what there doing cause this isn't even a joke we are talking about peoples lives here! Anyways I think this happened in Pakistan or India right?
Obviously it is a different culture and I do not understand this way of thinking because I live in America with different beliefs. In any form of humanity though, I'd say it should be wrong to outright attack someone whether it be with fist, foot, acid etc.
Those men should be tracked down by the police and charged to the full extent of the law. Who do they think they are? If we all went for vigilante justice at anything we don't like the look of it would be like going back in civilisation about 200 years!

KooKoo Molookoo: religion is mentioned as it is a religous hate crime, no other reason for the attck, that's why!
It was wrong for the Muslim girls to dress like that but it was also wrong for the Muslim men to attack them in that manner, they should have reasoned with them and explained them the wrongs and serious punishment from Allah for such dressing.
if you want to know what life is like under islamic law, the sharia, google life under the taliban. it is very hard for non-muslims to watch. the inhumane treatment of women and girls is unreal.
this can happen only in pak which is a hanafi and shia country not a muslim country yes some muslim live there and they are fighting with these rong elementswho are fighting with these groups are Ihtasam ilahi zaheer TaliburRahaman Touseefur Rahman and many others like Dr ShafiqurRahman
i am a muslim i dress modestly and wear hijab but i think this is very very wrong. Islam does not under any circumstance promote this sort of action. Allah has the best punishment for wht they did.
WHAT they did cannot be justified .This is not islam .

Although dress of girls was not suitable but men's action was also against islam .

Islam teaches to be gentle not harsh.
that's insane, they should have not been looking at there legs anyways and if it bothered them they should help them by explaining why its so wrong not burn them!!!
    So where is the article?

Go ahead and give some more feedback, don't make up your own news story and then ask people to answer.
    Absolutely disgusting!

Who made them judge jury and executioner?
If that really happened, it's a crime against those girls. The men need to be brought to justice.
Do you have a link? A news paper? A news channel? Anything to corroborate the story is true?

    Thanks Natassia for the link...

My view on it is those young boys had no right to do that, those girls have fathers who are there disciplinarians not strangers. Even if they wanted to point out to them your skirts are too short, still its inexcusable for them to disfigure those girls, that is a total sin in Islam. Its disgusting. In Turkey there are belly dancers and girls where short skirts and tea shirts everywhere, Turkish girls and Turkish men drinking alcohol and have tattoo's sleeping with British women twice there age, are those boys going to go spray those men with acid also? I strongly doubt it.

Its sheer cowardis.....Turkey is not a country where all Muslim girls dress modestly and the picture of those two girls in the link hardly look more than 12 or 13. How dare they, I hope they are found and prosecuted! That is my view!

    http://turklishadventure.blogspot.com/20鈥?/a>

If anyone cares to view this link and scroll down they will see some Turkish girls cover and some definitly dont! Its not like it was a rare site for them and not all girls in Turkey are Muslim.
Well these people need to open up a bit. That was sick .They need to be dealt with severely. In which country did that happen?

And where did u get this information from ?How did these guys know that these girls were muslims? Can you elaborate please or give us the link??
    It definitely is not Islam.
If it's true then some one should throw acid in their eyes for looking at them.

By the way there is nothing Islamic about throwing acid.
    Where ? When? Link?
Must be great to live in a Muslim dominated country eh?

    Allah would be proud (sarcasm)
This is inhuman act. Islam doesnt allows force.
    both are wrong .

but those men are more wrong
It's harsh. But they should know better.
It's absolutely outrageous...oh they want shootin, they really do!!

Me and my best friend used to be friends with these muslims and we used to go in their resturant all the time but her mum said stay away cause apparantely they throw hot oil over people.
I think that wearing too short skirts mean a bad behave for this girls and this is not a good wear but also the reaction of this men on the girls is bad.
DO NOT CALL THEM MUSLIM MEN- THEY ARE WAHHABIS

Wahhabis are followers of Iblees (Lucifer)

Should perants let they teenage kids have sex or drink at home?

and why?Should perants let they teenage kids have sex or drink at home?
this is funny cuz i noticed that it's a tradition that parents say no but the teen does it anywaysShould perants let they teenage kids have sex or drink at home?
    No. It condones poor/irresponsible/illegal behavior.
    no
No I don't. But, I know a girl whose parents let them drink, smoke (weed/ciggerates) and do what ever the hell they want. Which I believe is wrong but, they don't care. Their kids are ages 10 %26amp; the other just turned 13. And they both drink, etc. Which I don't talk to them any more for the fact of this and other reasons.

I would NEVER EVER let my kids drink, smoke, or have sex in my house. And if I found out they were (Anywhere. My house. Or any where else) they'd be in some deep sh!t.
im okay with drinking cos i done it too!

    but not sex!!!

    god are you sick??

    grow up!!!
    Erm NO!
i think that parents should let kids drink at home under supervision but only like 1-2 glasses of wine with a meal, but i certainly think that parents should not let their children have sex at home they should be married and love the other person before they do that.
I suppose it depends on the age of the teenager involved, I mean an 18-19 year old is a lot different to a 13-14 year old aren't they.

The sex one is a bit hard, really up to the parent, can't say I'd be thrilled.

As for the drinking one, It depends on the situation. I mean in Europe, its common for teens to have a drink with dinner and not think twice about it, but they're being taugh to drink responsibly not get blind drunk as kids in Australia seem to be.

Use your common sense, if they're under 16 I'd say definitly not, but don't just let them do it at home so you can supervise them, that's just condoning what they are doing, and teaching them that you think it's acceptable!
    Absolutely NOT!

Children have enough pressure from their friends without mom and dad helping things along.

This argument has been going on for years and I'm quite certain will continue but as parents we have the responsibility not to permit them to do such thing in our own homes.

While we're at it why don't we just buy them a keg of beer and a box of condoms on our credit cards with our names on it so the kid can be raised by the state!!!!

I love my kids way to much to permit this.
No, but parents should teach their children to SPELL!
Would you allow your teens to play with loaded guns in their home just because it seems right? In allowing your teens in the home to have sex is the same thing, one good shot and your son or daughter is a parent and your a grandparent. I would say NO, and as to the drinking, I say are you out of your mind? Drinking destroys brain cells, alters thinking and is just wrong for adults let alone teens. Please think about it. And buy a dictionary and use it.
no because you should do it after becoming adult.
NO NEVER. First of all it is illegal. More importantly it is the parent's duty to teach morals. There are no morals in a home where a teen is allowed to have sex and drink.
    Yeah, if you like prison.
if you flunked english, i can see why.
No because sex is for marriage only and can lead to pregnancy, STDS, AIDS, HIV, and single mothers. Drinking is illegal and alters your mind and body and parents who give their kids alcohol should be thrown in jail. Too much drinking can lead to car crashes or random acts of violence and can turn the kids into alcoholics.
No, they shouldn't let them do that when their not at home either, idiot. But they should allow them to read an English book every once in a while...
no it should be done after becoming an adult
yes cuz at least there not out doing it behind there back and if a teen gets drunk somethin bad could happen 2 them while not at home so i say yes
  • remove blackheads
  • blue mask

My gf wants a camero and shes only 16. Do you think is too much car for a teenage girl?

A friend has one and i think she is jealousMy gf wants a camero and shes only 16. Do you think is too much car for a teenage girl?
its a car :S my friend taught me how to drive and his car was a 2005 c6 corvette and i was a bit heavy on the breaks but everything turned out fine, so if i can learn in a corvette i think its ok for her in a camero. My gf wants a camero and shes only 16. Do you think is too much car for a teenage girl?
If she wants to pay the $6,000/ year for insurance.

Plus, with fuel prices rising, that car isn't exactly fuel efficient.

For a 16 year old, I would go for a smaller car. Not necessarily a Focus or Cobalt, but something with an I-4 or V6 engine. An Impala or Escape would be good, but I wouldn't go for anything much bigger than those.
Good car to get killed in.
With great material items comes great responsibility. can she afford it, insurance, does it have a warranty? if not could she afford to pay for parts? gas?

If you cant afford it out of your pocket or bank, you shouldnt have it. People get themselves into real messes by not thinking things through enough.
    don't ask these question
Personally. I don't like to see kids behind the wheel of a car. Kids will be kids. They are influenced by peer pressure(drive faster, pick up some friends, skip school and joy ride etc). Your girl may be a responsible young lady; but, again, kids will be kids. A camara is a fast sports car---I think she will show off! Possibly riding another guy around also.

She still has time-- high school graduation gift maybe or if she were my child, it would probably be age 22/23, but definitely after graduating from college!
Nothing better than a hot chick in a cool car.
I think it would be a big mistake to let a 16 year old get a sports car period. She's to young for a car like that. The only thing that would come getting her a sports car poss-ably are speeding tickets and trouble in general. The insurance will kill her too at that young of age.
    Get her a Power Wheels.
    get her a Bus Pass
Tell her to get one of those cars shaped like an egg.
she will be safe in it
    get her a Geo Metro
Something not too pretty and expensive because she may beat it up learning how to drive and getting more experienced as she goes.

Toyota and Honda would be a good place to start because those are pretty much a good, durable car and will retain it's value when you go to buy a nicer car later on.
If she's a resposible and careful driver, it might be OK, but the insurance would be expensive. I've seen teenagers driving Mercedes ML500 or CLK320.

But, to be on the safe side, start with a smaller and not-so-fast car. And the insurance will be more affordable.

What haircut should a teenage girl get?

teenagers these days, be original get dark brown hair and some side bangs, leave the layers, maybe get some extensions , and wear some makeup that isn't over done just some foundation and eyeliner.

and up to shoulder curving in a little bit

How to encourage my teenage bro to be more patient, and not getting upset easily or become rebellious?

I know that in teenage years, it's normal to become rebellious, but sometimes it's just over that he gets upset/fussy over trivial things, and even most of the time argue with my parents. At first, I tried to find what actually causes him to behave like that, sometimes it's due to my parents control, and I can understand how he feels. I tried to tell my parents not to always control him, but I feel it's ridiculous coz they do love and care for him. But I want to try as much as I can to make him happy, and this just seems difficult cos he doesn't open up much. Other than that behaviour, he's a very responsible %26amp; mature thinking boy. Any suggestion? How to encourage my teenage bro to be more patient, and not getting upset easily or become rebellious?
it is not easy. First try explaining to him. Then show him how he acts and does. Give him an example. What I am trying to say is give him a taste of his own medicine. How to encourage my teenage bro to be more patient, and not getting upset easily or become rebellious?
watch the taming of the shrew and do the same to him. behave the way he does in front of your parents to show how ridiculous it looks.

ask him to go for yoga or meditation classes

Why can't a teenage boys just say they don't want to go out without someone instead of being so mean about it?

My daughter texted a boy asking him out and instead of just saying ';no'; he said, '; no way in hell I'd go out with a fat retard like you'; How mean! It makes me want to hunt him down and straggle the living crap out of him!

BTW wish I had a pic for you my daughter is not fat only 130 pounds so his insult didn't even make sense. Why can't a teenage boys just say they don't want to go out without someone instead of being so mean about it?
they're still young and immature about love...i wish i could tell you that it gets better. Why can't a teenage boys just say they don't want to go out without someone instead of being so mean about it?
Why do teenage girls cut each other down by gossiping about each other behind their backs (essentially saying similar things as what that boy said about your daughter)? I can't defend it, but teenagers build themselves up by taking other people down. It's all a part of a very confusing time in their lives as they are developing an identity - hopefully at the very least your daughter knows that this boy is pathetic and picking on her to make himself feel good, and that she would never do the same thing to another person.
Not all teenage boys are mean. Another stereotype that I openly disagree with. My ex-boyfriend is the most kind-hearted person I know, when he wants to be. He's been through a lot including his mothers death and his best friends death. He is nice to those who are nice to him, but the minute you annoy him or hurt him, the nice guy temporarily goes away. If a girl is calling your phone 15 times in a day when you have made it clear, in the nicest way possible, that you were not into them, it's hard not to be mean. Some people are never taught to have respect and compassion for others, some people learn it but ignore it, and some need to be mean even if it kills them. It sounds as if this boy is immature and his mind is entangled in the media. Tell her to cheer up, she doesn't want to date a jerk like that anyway!
Because they're young, for one. Therefore immature. They don't have enough life experience to realize that when they say those things, it can scar a person for life. For another, some of them are simply mean. Another area where they don't have the adequate life experience to understand that it's not cool to be that way. For a third, they think they're being cool by behaving that way. When I was in school I noticed that the more mature and intelligent a boy was, the nicer he was to the girls in those cases.
Many teenage boys are immature. That's the truth. They don't have the life experience to put themselves in someone else's shoes and see how they might feel. Not all boys would say that - it's too bad that boy's parents haven't taught him humility and kindness.

I'm sorry your daughter had to go through that. Tell her that she did a brave thing by asking him out and that one day she WILL find someone who who loves and cares about her for who she is. It's scary to go out on a limb and boys like that have a lot of growing up to do. I feel really sorry for him. Keep raising your daughter to be brave and courageous and to love herself. :o)
You know, if you want something done about it, I know someone who specializes in shoving rude, obnoxious boys down flights of stairs.... just kidding. Lol. But I know what you mean. Boys are so... vulgar and impolite sometimes. And no, 130 lbs is not fat and guys are just kind of ridiculous sometimes and most of them have the unnecessary trait of lying and being extremely outrageous. Sigh. Well, I hope that guy didn't hurt your daughter's feeling too bad. I'm sure she deserves someone much better.
Boys don't have the market on mean cornered.....as I recall, high school girls can be pretty heartless. Have you ever seen a girl make fun of an awkward kid and get a whole crowd to laugh at him?

But, what he did was terrible and it makes me want to teach him some manners.

Good side - these things will make her stronger in the long run even though it hurts now.
i, too really hate those kind of guys!

i think they are like that coz they think that they are all that and perfect and doest want to out girl who is not perfect as they are... they are really rude when dumping a girl is simply because they only want to have fun making the girl emberssed in front of people..
look not every teenage boy is like that, but frankly, some people are *****, and unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it, but think about this, if that guys such an ***, then you don't want your daughter going out with him anyway
Because teenage boys are idiots. I'm sure you remember the horror of being a teenage girl. Now they have to deal with texting, and Myspace, All of that makes the ';oh so life altering drama'; spread a little faster.
ouch... well how did SHE take it?

im sure she will get over it when she is old enough to be meeting man NOT boys.

BTW i don't have kids, but you read your kids txts? arent you lil too involved in her life? i could be wrong...
well its simple, she texted him! any idiot know you dont ask someone out by texting, your not even talking to them. He's thinking your daughter is an arrogant piece of crap for texting him instead of calling or meeting with him.
cuz dudes like that are aholes she prolly asked one of the popular or the person that thinks they are popular out and he didnt want to tarnish his reputation so he was an a hole
he is obviously stupid. boys have problems with egos. by turning your daughter down, and in a mean way, he feels like hes on the top of the world. he thinks that girls are just gathering around him. boys are stupid.
because they are teenage boys. they don't know any better. plus that boy was most likely raised in a barn if he said something that horrid. no manners.
That's a pretty broad generalization...It's not a good idea to generalize like that. By the way it's a bad idea to ask someone out through text....
I'd want to hunt down the little prick too....

He'll be an insecure little bastard that elevates his own self-worth by putting down others...
Teenagers are stupid especially during that middle school phase. They get so concerned about fitting in with the rest of society and being ';cool';.
i honestly dont know anyone that acted like this.. your wrong about judgement in teenage boys. i never heard of anyone being so offensive in a situation like this..
well im a teenage boy and i couldnt possibly imagine saying that to anyone.

    sorry for you daughter
Because like you said, they're teenage boys. ):

Oh man, I feel for your daughter. Don't let that bring her self esteem down. I'm sure she is a very lovely girlie.
Your daughter probably asked a jock or ';bad boy'; out.

I HATE those other guys, I'm 14 and I would have been way more polite than that idiot.
    He sounds very immature.

Maybe she should limit her texting to close friends and family for awhile.
Don't worry. She'll get over it. All girls (well, at least the ones I know) are insulted by guys, and we get over it.
This sounds like something his friends would have done and him being a jerk didnt stop it.
stupid teenage boys i swear ive been to hell and back with them. i gave up a while ago.
    thats life homie

we all say crap we shouldn't have
she probably just caught him off guard

    The Clique Series

    Gossip Girl Novels

    Au Pairs Series

    The Ashley Files

    Seven Deadly Sins

Princess Diaries SeriesWhat is the best teenage book series?
    Oooooh!

I wouldn't read Twilight (if you haven't read it yet) cuz it gets a little tedious. First and third books are good, though.

There's the Clique series. Also I read ';The Breakup Bible,'; which is really good.

Sarah Dessen and Deb Caletti are good authors. I recommend ';The Nature of Jade'; by Deb Caletti, and ';This Lullaby'; by Sarah Dessen. (However, they're not series)

If you like classics there's always ';Little Women'; and ';Little Men'; by Louisa May Alcott :]

    Hope I helped! :D
As I've already said to someone else on here, if you're into Romance books then try these. Before reading all of these, all I ever read were teen romance novels and stuff. Trust me, now it's opened my eyes to a whole new world of reading! They haven't got fantasy action in them but defo a bit of everyday action if you see what I mean lol

Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic - by Sophie Kinsella. (This is an amazing romance book about two young people in their twenties. Honesty, hands down, one of my favourite books ever. You MUST read it!!!) It has four other sequels as well which are all worth the read.

Airhead - by Meg Cabot. (This is a teen romance novel but with a really good twist. The characters are more believable than most I've come across and there's a sequel to it which has just come out. Go and check on Amazon for them)

The Devil Wears Prada - Lauren Weisberger (The book is so much better than the film and actually seems to have a plot! lol Not my favourite book of all time but defo worth a read if you're into the romance genre of books)

And yeah, I would recommend the Twilight books. I'm never some one to go out and buy whatever happens to be popular or in the Top 10 list of whatever, and I'm a little skeptical, but I really seriously enjoyed them and currently re-reading them again.
For a young adult/teen Meg Cabot's young adult books. She is the best author. Also best selling. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), All-American Girl (up coming movie), Jinx, Airhead and more. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her.

If you want more info or any of the authors website's email me.
